Telecom Gravity

Telecom Gravity™ is a platform that enables competitive providers to communicate in real-time with their wholesale providers. Without an underlying standard for electronic communication, providers have been forced to use a confusing mixture of paper, web-based ordering, and legacy EDI systems based on 1960's data formats. We all know too well the challenges and revenue-leakage of paper, web-based double-entry ordering, and other manual processes. On the other hand, we personally found automated systems are challenging to implement from both a cost &time perspective. There has to be a serious analysis of the cost vs. benefit of automation.

Automation is the key to success in this business, and that it is the driving force behind customer service and bottom-line profits. Through automation, customers are turned-up quicker, bringing revenue in the door faster; provisioning errors & typos are eliminated, reducing call center volume, reducing total cost and improving employee morale; changes & migrations become much more flexible and efficient - enabling companies to act with more agility than competitors.

The true need for this product came as we expanded our OSS offering and built an automated network to communicate with the major ILEC's. As we implemented automated systems with each carrier, we found underlying EDI systems to be quite different and often challenging to work with. Although TCIF & LSOG are industry guidelines, a quick comparison of any two carriers' ordering guides reveals that every carrier has unique business rules and requires a separate approach to automation.

We discovered that electronic ordering is difficult for most providers to implement, and often the cost outweighs the benefit. In an industry leading the way with technology, electronic ordering should be uniform across all providers, real-time at all levels, easy to implement, not only affordable but profitable. It shouldn't require full-time resources to maintain, pt-to-pt T1's, nor should it be based on 1960's technologies. The current landscape is far from this!

With this knowledge. Overgroup set out to make a difference. We developed a web-service-based, easy-to-implement/manage gateway that enables any provider tier 1 or tier 5 to automate their ordering/pre-ordering process. Simply put, Telecom Gravity™ eliminates the costly, drawn-out implementation efforts of electronic ordering, and delivers a real-time gateway that can be rapidly implemented.
